The Sea

The concept of Time and Permanence is evident here.
I shot these two photographs in two different locations around the UK, however at very similar times of the day. Surprisingly these photographs were both shot in Summer time but a year apart.
The scenes could be shot on the same day at different times, they could be in the same location.
They could be decades apart. In different time of year Winter verses Summer. But they are the same really, both could be at any time and that is the idea of permanence.

I tried to keep the framing the same, and I had to crop a little in post production after editing to bring detail and colour out of the files.
They are actually shot on two different cameras. One is with a 50mm lens on a 35mm sensor camera, and the other is shot with a 18mm lens on an APS-C sensor camera, giving an equivalent 28mm lens. Though I kept the barrel distortion to a minimum (it's a fantastic lens) you can see in the picture on the right the clouds are pushed way up above to travel over the viewer, whereas on the image on the left the sky is a flatter and just goes high up.
