I did some research into painters, as I primarily do landscape photography, this should be useful as landscape photography has come from paintings and the ideas of the picturesque.
I read 'Burning With Desire: The Conception of Photography' by Geoffrey Batchen. I thought it was interesting and I took quite a few quotes from it when writing my dissertation. This heavily influenced my ideas on the picturesque: what is picturesque, and how to convey that message in my photographs.
