See the Baltic Sea

See the Baltic Sea - Katso Itamerta, Jukka Rapo, Lauri Rotko
What do I think of this book?

it is presented not as a narrative at all, it is a pure document of what the photographers found in the areas they went. There is mix of photography and styles, helped by the way there are 3 photographers- three different people, no matter how close they are will always have a few different styles and a few different ways of looking at things.there is a map showing the area of the Baltic sea that helps you to understand the area in which the photos were taken and give it context.
I like that the photographs were taken by Scandinavian photographers, who understand what it is like to be Scandinavian. It would not be the same project if someone foreign, with foreign ideals came to photograph the area. The project has more meaning for them to photograph it, they grew up Scandinavian, the grew up with the sea being the centre for them, instead of growing up american for example understanding fast food chains or growing up English, understanding chav life.
